I am an Indian and is now residing in Japan. It has been just 2 months since I have been in Japan. After coming here, I had my first period on Jan 27th which was 2 days late and this month it is getting delayed, this is the 14th day i am waitting for it. I am married but according to the pregnency tests i have done a couple of times it was negative. I suppose that the delay may be due to the rapid climatic changes as well as the routine changes my body is undergoing. I had some vague symptoms of the periods for a few days but it didnt last for more. Do i have to wait for some more time or should i consult a doctor now? Is there any problem if i miss the period this time?
Is there any problem or aftereffects for a late period?extension
One of the first signs of pregnancy is a late period, but missed periods do not necessarily mean that you are pregnant. If you鈥檙e sexually active and have missed a period, then it is worthwhile to take a pregnancy test.
You may still want to take a pregnancy test even if you have been using contraception. Since birth control can fail, taking a pregnancy test will allow you to rule out one of the possible causes of missed periods.
If you have a late period and a negative pregnancy test, then consider whether or not you鈥檝e recently been sick, gained or lost a significant amount of weight, have been under excessive stress, travelled or have taken any new medications.
All of these things can affect your menstrual cycle and cause you to have a missed or irregular periods. Additionally, certain types of birth control can also cause you to have irregular menstrual cycles.
I would recommend that if you don't get your period in another few days, that you do another pregnancy test (incase there's a possibility you might be pregnant and it was not picked up before) and if you're not pregnant, I would recommend you consult with your doctor for further evaluation.
Good luck :)
